Request a Grant Writer

Grants to Gratiot County, Michigan nonprofit organizations, including churches and schools, for youth-driven community service projects. Funding may be used for project implementation costs, project promotion, and programming.

Please note that separate applications are available for Large Grants (more than $500) and Mini Grants ($500 or less).

Youth Advisory Council (YAC) Grant Policies and Procedures:
-YAC grants fund programs that involve youth in community service projects in Gratiot County.
-Youth applying for funding must not be primary beneficiaries of community service project.
-Youth members of YAC review applications and make grant recommendations.
-YAC grants are highlighted at the annual Youth Showcase at the Heritage Center in April.

Estimated Size of Grant:

-Large Grants: More than $500
-Mini Grants: $500 or less

Term of Contract:

For Large Grants, projects receiving funding must be completed within one year (if an ongoing project, the portion receiving the grant must be completed).

For Mini Grants, projects receiving funding must be completed by the end of the school year (if an ongoing project, the portion receiving the grant must be completed).

Requests will not be considered for annual giving or multi-year funding.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

You may apply if you are, or are affiliated with, a registered nonprofit organization serving Gratiot County (for example, schools and churches are registered nonprofits).

The Gratiot County Community Foundation does not discriminate based on age, race, gender, national origin, religion or disability and will award grants only to applicants which do not discriminate on the same basis.

Ineligible Projects/Expenses:
-Capital expenses and normal operating expenses
-Annual giving or multi-year funding
-Religious or political purposes
-Completed projects
-Individuals
-Loans

Pre-Application Information:

Applications must be completed by youth with limited adult participation.

Completed applications must be received or postmarked on or before November 1 and February 1. The deadline for the Spring YAC Grant Cycle will be Thursday, February 1, 2018.

YAC grant dollars are paid out after the project is completed.
