Grants to Virginia horse breed associations and discipline organizations to promote the economic development of the state’s equine industry. Funding may support activities such as horse shows, trail rides, and races. This program also seeks to recognize quality horse breeding (i.e., horses foaled in the Commonwealth).

Breed associations and discipline organizations in the Commonwealth of Virginia that demonstrate the skills and ability to conduct a viable program to promote Virginia horses—through competitive activities and futurities are eligible to participate in the program.
Associations must also be a recognized chapter of their specific breed or discipline as approved by their national associations.
Associations should also be registered with the Virginia State Corporation Commission.
No monies will be awarded directly to breeders or owners.
The deadline is noon on Monday, November 13, 2017.
Members of the Virginia Horse Industry Board will review all applications in December, 2017.
Breed associations and discipline organizations will be notified in early 2018 as to whether they will receive grant monies from the Virginia Horse Industry Board for their Virginia Bred Program for that year.
