Grants ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 to Rutherford County, North Carolina nonprofit, faith-based, governmental, and educational organizations for programs and projects that benefit local residents. Preference will be given to programs that demonstrate the highest community benefit, including requests that focus on education, health and wellness, early childhood development, assisting people in need, the environment, and arts, culture, and natural resources.

Grants will be made for charitable purposes, including programmatic needs and capital needs. Applications for general operating support may be accepted, but generally will be given low priority.

Term of Contract:

Projects should be completed within one year of receipt of grant funds. Use of grant funds may begin on or after May 1.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Grants are made to qualified 501(c)(3), governmental, educational, and religious organizations serving Rutherford County.


RCE grants generally do not support: scholarships; sectarian religious purposes; partisan political purposes; endowment funds; deficit funding or debt retirement; festivals or one-time events such as exhibits, performances or fundraisers; or activities taking place or expenses incurred before grant decisions are made.

Pre-Application Information:

Prior to submitting an application, applicants are encouraged to discuss their proposal with CFWNC staff.

The grant application deadline is 5 p.m. on March 1. If the deadline date is on a weekend or holiday, the deadline is 5 p.m. the next business day.

Funding decisions will be completed, grant awards announced, and funds distributed by the end of April.
