Scholarships of up to $3,000 to Memphis, Tennessee high school juniors and seniors to attend a teen program in Israel. Funding is intended to foster bonds between the Memphis Jewish community and Israel. Successful applicants are expected to contribute to the community through volunteer service prior to receiving the grant money.

Funding may be applied to program cost only.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Rising high school juniors and seniors in the Memphis Jewish community are eligible for up to $3,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

All rising Jewish high school juniors and seniors who live in Memphis and have not previously received a Lemsky grant for Israel travel while in high school are eligible.

Funding may not be applied to airfare or other expenses.

Pre-Application Information:

The application deadline is Monday, April 16, 2018.

Teen Israel Experience Participant Obligations:

- Community Service Hours: TIE participants will contribute 15 hours of service to the Jewish community. These hours may be fulfilled in any of Memphis’ Jewish service agencies, congregations, schools and youth groups. Hours performed in the broader Memphis community may count if they are completed under the auspices of a Jewish organization. These hours must be completed before funds will be disbursed.

- Attendance at an Israel Orientation Session: TIE participants will attend a pre-trip Israel Orientation Session in the spring of 2018. There will be a choice of two session dates. Attendance at one session is mandatory for funds to be disbursed.

Grant funding is counted cumulatively - a teen who accepts a $3000 grant to participate in an Israel program during high school will be eligible for a maximum $1000 grant for an Israel program at the post high school level.
