Fellowships to International Jewish college students to participate in a summer business leadership program in Israel. Fellows participate in an internship program at leading Israeli companies. The fellowship is open to college sophomores, juniors, and select seniors who are pursuing careers in business and/or technology.

The Birthright Excel is a highly selective fellowship program, beginning with an immersive 10-week professional internship in Israel’s leading companies. During the program, each Birthright Israel Excel Fellow embarks on an in-depth professional internship at a prominent Israeli company with global reach from a wide selection of industries, including finance, venture capital, consulting, hi-tech, and bio-tech.

Throughout the summer, Birthright Israel Excel Fellows engage with distinguished Israeli leaders from business, technology, politics and philanthropic organizations on a broad range of topics including leadership, innovation, Jewish identity, the global economy, and teamwork. In addition, the program provides a comprehensive leadership extracurricular program and travel to Israeli sites and projects designed to encourage a deeper understanding of the State of Israel and its history.

Upon completion of the summer programming, Birthright Israel Excel Fellows continue to network together to expand both their leadership and business acumen and join an exclusive community of future international Jewish business and technology leaders.

The following expenses will be paid by Birthright Israel Excel:
- Round trip airfare between hub cities and Tel Aviv
- Housing in Tel Aviv (dormitories with double occupancy room
- Meals

Term of Contract:

Program dates are May 31 – August 6, 2021.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The program is open to all Jewish young adults who are currently college sophomores (2nd year), juniors (3rd year) or seniors (4th year). Seniors must be committed to graduate programs or full-time employment in the fall of 2021. A well-rounded academic background with coursework in finance, economics or engineering is recommended. Candidates must demonstrate academic strength – U.S applicants require a minimum 3.2 GPA (equivalent scores for other countries), strong standardized test scores, demonstrated leadership skills and a high energy level.

Pre-Application Information:

Applications have closed for summer 2021 from the US, Canada and Israel. Applications from other countries are due by 11:59 pm ET on February 15th.

Interested students must complete a Birthright Israel Excel online application (which includes submitting a resume, essay, video, unofficial transcript and academic and employment references). The application is accessible online. Select candidates will be offered a combination of first round interviews, and second round interviews. Those candidates selected for an interview will be notified via email.

Candidates who are chosen to participate in the Birthright Israel Excel Fellowship will be notified by email and will be asked to sign a letter of commitment one week following the offer date.

All Fellows will be required to provide a $500 deposit, of which $300 will be refunded upon completion of the program and other post-program obligations. Birthright Israel Excel may offer you the opportunity to voluntarily donate all or part of your deposit to support future programming, however, this decision is made solely at your discretion.
