Awards of $2,000 and an award of $1,000 to Maryland teachers in eligible locations to recognize excellence in education. The purpose of the awards program is to recognize seasoned teachers who have inspired their students, as well as to recognize a new teacher with great potential. Applicants are judged based on student focus and results, commitment to Montgomery County Public Schools, and links to school and community.

Judging Criteria:
Applicants will be judged using the three broad categories below. Supporting evidence for the criteria, in the form of letters from colleagues and parents, will be very helpful.

Three Master Teacher winners are selected, one for elementary school, one for middle school, and one for high school. One Rising-Star Teacher will be recognized.
The award level for Master Teachers is $2,000. The level for Rising-Star Teachers is $1,000. In addition, if the PTA of the winning teacher’s school is active in the nomination process, it will receive $100 for school supplies, equipment, or enrichment programs.
