Scholarships of up to $2,000 to Baltimore and Baltimore County, Maryland Jewish high school or one-year post-high school students to subsidize educational trips to Israel. Applicants must demonstrate financial need. Funding may be used for class trips, single semester, summer, or gap year programs. Funding is intended to ensure that as many young people as possible have the opportunity to visit and study in Israel, and thereby enhance and develop their Jewish identity.

Estimated Size of Grant:

- Up to $1,000 for class trips, single semester or summer programs
- Up to $2,000 for gap year programs
- A scholarship cannot cover more than one-third of the cost of the trip.

Term of Contract:

All programs must begin during the 2019 calendar year. Gap year programs are for the 2019-2020 school year.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Any Jewish teen in grades 9-12, or first-year post high school, living in Baltimore City or Baltimore County, or a student participating in a class trip of a Jewish school located in Baltimore City or County may apply.

Funding may not be used for family trips.

Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

Pre-Application Information:

Deadline for class and January semester trips is November 15, 2018. You should receive decisions in the mail by December 31.

Deadline for summer and gap year programs is April 1, 2019. You should receive decisions in the mail by June 30, 2019.

Late applications will not be accepted.

There are 3 parts to the application which must be completed in the following order:

1. Complete a facts scholarship application and upload all your tax documents to facts. That application can be found in the supporting documents below.

2. Complete a CFIE application

3. Submit a letter of recommendation which must be submitted via this link:, or typewritten.

For the letter of recommendation, an appropriate source would be anybody who can attest to your need for financial assistance. In the event that you do not share that information with anyone, then a rabbi, principal, teacher or community professional may write a character letter for your child. The ideal letter is one that addresses both your family’s financial reality as well as the character of your child.
