Scholarships of up to $6,000 to Greater Hartford Area, Connecticut Jewish high school students to attend educational programs and internships in Israel. Eligible programs will run from four weeks to one semester. Funding is intended to allow students to explore and develop their Jewish identity.

All participants must complete a minimum of 10 hours of community service for a Jewish organization (or organizations) of your choosing. This can happen before or after your trip, but must be completed no more than two months after your return.

JT Connect will conduct multi-session pre-educational and post-educational classes. All recipients are required to take these classes. The educational program consists of 4 classes: 3 pre-trip and 1 post-trip.

Scholarships are worth up to $6,000 per student.

Term of Contract:

Priority is given to immersive 4 week to 1 semester programs. If funds are still available after all students who have requested a scholarship received one, then the Foundation, in its discretion, will consider other requests.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

All Jewish high school students who will be entering grades 9, 10, and 11 (2018/2019 school year) following their travel to Israel and who are residents of the Greater Hartford area are eligible to apply.

What is the definition of a Jewish student?
- The student must have at least one Jewish parent or have converted to Judaism
- The student must identify with the Jewish faith at time application is made

Students who have not previously traveled to Israel and demonstrate a financial need receive first priority for scholarships. Rising seniors will have the priority over all applicants in this group. If additional scholarships remain available, students who have previously traveled to Israel and/or do not demonstrate financial need will be considered.

Pre-Application Information:

Applications must be received by November 30, 2018.

There is a list of pre-approved Israel travel programs (appendix 2 of the attached PDF). If you do not see your program listed, please e-mail the Foundation and provide information (including a website) on your program. The Foundation will determine its eligibility.
