Grants of up to $2,500 to Alabama and Mississippi nonprofit organizations to strengthen communities within the funding source’s service area. Applications may be submitted for programs in the areas of civic benefit, community and economic development, and education.

Programs must help communities in Singing River Electric’s Service territory, which includes Jackson, George, Greene, Harrison, Perry, Stone and Wayne Counties in Mississippi, as well as Mobile and Washington Counties in Alabama.

Previous grants have been awarded to purchase playground equipment, car seats, computers, books to teach adults and children to read, and to support local projects locally, among other causes.

Up to $2,500

If awarded a grant, funds must be spent on the selected project within six months of receiving the grant check.

Grants are available to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations helping communities within Singing River Electric’s service territory.

Organizations must be nonprofit and tax-exempt under the U.S. Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(3).


Deadlines are close of business on the second Friday of the month in which you are applying.

Deadline dates for 2017 are:
-January 13
-May 12
-September 8

Applicants will be notified of acceptance approximately one month after the application deadlines.
