Grants to Connecticut and Rhode Island nonprofit organizations and government agencies to improve the quality of life in communities served by the funding source. Funds are intended for the following program areas: arts and culture, health and human services, environment, education, economic development, housing, youth activities, and animal welfare.

The Foundation's mission is to support the ongoing commitment in partnership for the long-term growth of the community it serves.

Estimated Size of Grant:

A nonprofit may request any dollar amount. Past grants have typically ranged between $500 and $5,000 awards. The foundation board may approve funding requests at a different dollar amount than requested.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

An eligible applicant is:
- Non-profit organizations exempt from federal income tax per Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or other acceptable 501(c) status.
- A governmental unit referred to in Section 170(c)(1) of the IRS Code.
- Special consideration will be given to programs benefiting communities that are served by Chelsea Groton Bank. The Bank serves communities in eastern Connecticut and southern Rhode Island.

Although the nonprofit does not need to be located in the Bank’s communities, the funds must be used to improve the quality of life in the communities Chelsea Groton serves.

Pre-Application Information:

Online grant applications are accepted year round. Those received by the third Friday in April will be reviewed in May. Those received by the third Friday in September will be reviewed in October.

Organizations are permitted to receive one grant per calendar year. If the organization was denied funding, they may reapply in the same calendar year.
