Grants of up to $10,000 to Alabama public and private nonprofit schools to implement programs that focus on increased physical exercise, parental involvement, and healthy food for students in kindergarten through grade 6. Funding is intended to improve the health and wellness of students and help prevent childhood obesity.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for funding, a school must:
- Be located in Alabama
- Serve students in grades K-6 (must serve at least one of these grades)
- Must be public or private non-profit

Not eligible for support:
- For profit schools
- Sports leagues or teams of individual schools
- Any activity deemed inappropriate by BCBSAL

Pre-Application Information:

The deadline to submit an application is Friday, March 22, 2019.

All funding requests must be submitted online. Awards are payable to schools only.

Funded schools will be further recognized with a Blue Cross Be Healthy School banner. In April 2020, students who successfully complete their school’s program will be presented with Be Healthy awards by Blue Cross.
