Community Foundation of the Eastern Shore (CFES) - Women’s Fund

Grants of up to $5,000 to Lower Eastern Shore, Maryland nonprofits, government agencies, and religious entities for programs and services that address the unmet needs of girls and women in Wicomico, Worcester, and Somerset County. Priority will be made for first-time applicants and/or programs. Proposals must demonstrate a direct and measurable benefit to the targeted population.
Funding is intended to increase the impact of local programs serving girls in foster care, mothers in crisis, young women seeking job-readiness or leadership skills, and others who need a hand-up to be stronger and more self-sufficient, and forces for positive change in the community.

The grant award maximum is $5,000.
Applicants must be a 501c (3) nonprofit organization, a governmental entity or faith-based program providing non-sectarian programs in the Maryland counties of Wicomico, Worcester and Somerset.
In general the Community Foundation does not fund:
- Athletic Facility Infrastructure
- Athletic Field Maintenance
- Building Campaigns
- Capital Requests
- Debt Retirement
- Endowment Funds
- Fundraising Campaigns
- Nonprofit Start Up Fees (e.g. 501c3 Articles of Incorporation or Form 1023 Filing Fees)
- Ongoing/Operating Expenses
- Operational Deficits
- Partisan Political Activities
- Playground Equipment
- Political Lobbying Activities
- Sectarian Religious Programs

Grant writing is a skill that must be developed. There is no magic bullet, but there are tips and tools that can help you to find the right potential sources and effectively approach them. This program will be a fantastic opportunity to hear from a grant writer and grant maker willing to share what they know about what works and what doesn’t and how you can increase your chances of success.

All first-time applicants to the Community Foundation are required to establish a grantee relationship by making their initial application to the Community Needs grant program, which is offered twice a year.
