GrantWatch ID#: 180035
Grant amounts generally range from $7,500 - $30,000.
The grant period will run from September 1, 2018, to August 31, 2019.
Scholarships are intended for a promising student for tuition toward professional training at a non-profit school with dance as a focused discipline located in the United States. Students must have been a dance major at the school for at least one year. To apply for a Dance Performance Scholarship, you do not have to be enrolled in a degreed program. However, you must be studying full-time at a non-profit dance school. Universities and training programs must be independent 501(c) (3) non-profit organizations, and have maintained that status for a minimum of 3 years.
Please note, grants are based on tuition costs only; no other expenses (i.e. room and board, materials, books, costumes, etc.) may be included. Students enrolled in dance education or graduate programs are not eligible for scholarships.
Fellowships are available for salary assistance for a new, full-time artistic employee (not an apprentice) of a non-profit dance company. Nominee must have been under contract with the company for at least one year, and not more than five years at time of application. Professional nonprofit dance companies must meet the following requirements:
- Employ professional management staff
- Have been in continuous operation as an independent 501(c)(3) company for at least 3 years
- Have a total of 10 weeks of rehearsal and performance per year
- Have demonstrated the ability to raise public and private funds
Please note: Dance grants can only be used in coordination with organizations located in the United States. American university satellite campuses abroad do not qualify.
You may not apply for a Princess Grace Award to attend short training programs, intensives, or film festivals.
Applications are due April 30, 2018 by 11:59 PM EST.
Notification of the grants will occur by July 31, 2018.
Applicants must be nominated by the dean/department chair of their academic program (if applying for a scholarship) or the artistic director of a company (if applying for a fellowship).
All grants are given directly to the organizations, not the individual. The organizations then disburse the money to the Award Winner. Each school/organization manages this differently based on its own internal system. However, the school itself may not take any administrative fees from the grant.
