Estimated Size of Grant:

Grant amounts generally range from $7,500 - $30,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

1. Scholarships: These are intended for students at a nonprofit school with dance as a focused discipline located in the United States. Applicants do not have to be enrolled in a degree program. However, they must be studying full-time at a non-profit dance school. Students must have been a dance major at the school for at least one year (or just about to complete the first year at the time of application). Students enrolled in dance education or graduate programs are not eligible for scholarships.

2. Fellowships: These are intended for a new, full-time artistic employee (not an apprentice) of a non-profit dance company. Nominee must have been under contract with the company for at least one year, and not more than five years at time of application. (Note: Princess Grace Awards are for emerging artists, or artists at the outset of their career's. In its evaluation of "emerging," the Dance Panel considers the aggregate of the dancer's professional experience, not just the length of current employment with the dance company.) Professional non-profit dance companies must meet the following requirements:

- Employ professional management staff
- Have been in continuous operation as an independent 501(c)(3) company for at least 3 years
- Have a total of 10 weeks of rehearsal and performance per year
- Have demonstrated the ability to raise public and private funds

In addition, the following eligibility criteria apply for both Scholarship and Fellowship applicants:

- Applicants must be U.S. citizens or have obtained permanent residency status.
- Applicants must be nominated by a school department chair/dean of their academic program (if applying for a scholarship) or company artistic director (if applying for a fellowship). Self-nominations are not allowed. The nominating organization must be a registered 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization for at least three years.
- Dance grants can only be used in coordination with organizations located in the United States. American university satellite campuses abroad do not qualify.

Allowable Uses of Funds:

1. Dance Performance Scholarships: Grants may go only toward tuition costs. Monies may not be used toward any other expenses (i.e. rent, room and board, materials, books, living expenses, costumes, etc.).

2. Dance Performance Fellowships: These must be used to pay salary only, exclusive of benefits.

Deadline: April 30, 2019 (11:59 pm PST)
