Opportunity for Connecticut nonprofit organizations in Greater New Haven and the Lower Naugatuck Valley to participate in a local fundraising campaign that offers prizes to participating nonprofits. This awards program is intended to highlight the area's nonprofits, increase the amount of local giving, and to strengthen the overall nonprofit sector.

Grand prizes will be awarded for the greatest number of new donors and the greatest number of individual donors. In addition, competitive hourly prizes and randomly drawn prizes will be awarded throughout the event.

This 36-hour online-giving event is intended to benefit nonprofits serving The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven's 20-town region. On the Great Give website, profiles of more than 360 nonprofits are viewable, providing information to donors about the needs and opportunities of the region, programs and services, governance, financials and community impact. Nonprofits are listed in one or more of eight categories:

- Support Arts and Culture
- Care of Animals
- Meet Basic Needs
- Promote Civic Vitality
- Boost Economic Success
- Provide Quality Education
- Protect the Environment
- Ensure Health and Wellness
- Nurture Children and Youth

The event starts at 8:00 am on May 2 and ends at 8:00 pm on May 3.

Only nonprofit organizations with a completed registration or a published profile on® by April 14, 2017 are eligible to participate in The Great Give® 2017.

The Great Give® 2017 is the eighth major community-wide giving event on® taking place for 36 hours starting 8:00 am on May 2 and ending 8:00 pm on May 3, 2017.
