Grants of up to $5,000 and grants of up to $7,500 to Maryland Jewish organizations and congregations in eligible regions for a broad range of programs to promote Jewish engagement and education. Funding is intended to reach new learners and increase Jewish learning opportunities locally. Preference will be given to proposals from organizations based in Baltimore (usually defined as the city and county), although the Foundation has agreed to accept proposals from surrounding counties and will consider funding them after reviewing requests from local applicants.

JEEP grants provide funding to help congregations and Jewish organizations enhance their efforts to engage Jews in positive Jewish experiences. Projects should do the following:

  • Increase the number of people engaged in Jewish educational experiences
  • Bring in new learners by reaching a wider target audience
  • Enhance the quality of those experiences
  • Increase the amount of programming provided

Estimated Size of Grant:

Organizations can request a grant from up to $5,000 or up to $7,500 for a more ambitious or innovative program.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Congregations and Jewish organizations in Baltimore may apply.

- The organization cannot be a current beneficiary of The Associated annual campaign.
- Organizations that received a grant directly from the Crane Foundation this year will not be eligible to receive a JEEP grant.
- The organization should have a board and a reasonable structure for accountability. In most instances, this requires a somewhat formal and full-time organizational structure. This disqualifies most non-professional, part-time (or occasional) programs.
- No full-time employees of the organization should receive extra compensation for participating in the project.

Pre-Application Information:

Applications for 2021 are due on January 14, 2021.

Each organization can only submit one application.

An organization may apply for three consecutive years. Following three years of consecutive grants an organization must take a one-year hiatus. After the hiatus, an organization once again becomes eligible and may request funds for the same purpose as previously requested or for a new purpose. In order to encourage collaborations, if an organization received a grant as part of a collaboration, it does not count toward their individual three years, however, it does count as a year of collaboration.
