Awards to Alabama teachers, educators, administrators, and other individuals to recognize contributions to the quality of education available to gifted students. An award category is also designated for a gifted student to recognize community service. The purpose of this award is to honor those who have positively impacted the life of a gifted student, or enhanced gifted education in the school, community or state.
-Outstanding Gifted Specialist Award
-Outstanding Administrator Award
-Outstanding Gifted Coordinator Award
-Outstanding General Education Teacher Award
-Award for Lifetime Achievement in Gifted Education (dedicating 20 years or more to Gifted Education)
-Outstanding Community Member Award
-Outstanding Gifted Student Award

All requirements must be met in order to nominate a person for one of the following categories:
Outstanding Gifted Specialist Award
-Must be employed as a gifted specialist in an Alabama school
Outstanding Administrator Award
-Must be employed as a school principal, assistant principal, or central office administrator in an Alabama school or school system
Outstanding Gifted Coordinator Award
-Must have been designated as the gifted coordinator (can have other titles, such as Special Education Coordinator, Director of Curriculum, etc.) and employed in an Alabama school system
Outstanding General Education Teacher Award
-Must be employed as a classroom teacher in Grades K-12 in an Alabama school system
Award for Lifetime Achievement in Gifted Education (dedicating 20 years or more to GT education)
-Must have been involved in the gifted education field as a gifted specialist, gifted coordinator, professor of gifted, state department personnel, etc.
-Must be or have been employed in gifted education in Alabama
Outstanding Community Member Award
-Must have volunteered or advocated for local or state gifted education
Outstanding Gifted Student Award
-Must be identified as gifted through the gifted identified or enrichment model in an Alabama school
-Must have made a difference in the school or community through a project or service learning
All nominees must be nominated by someone other than self.
The deadline for nomination packets is Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at 11:59 PM.
The winning recipients will be recognized with an award presented at the 2017 AAGC Conference in October, 2017.
The Association requests that individuals who are nominating should arrange for the nominee to be in attendance at the awards ceremony at the Conference.
