Grants to New London County, Connecticut and Westerly area, Rhode Island nonprofit organizations to improve the quality of life and wellbeing of local residents. Priority is given to proposals that focus on at-risk, underserved, or low- to moderate-income communities.

Focus areas include:

- Affordable housing,
- Basic human services for those considered most at-risk
- Development/education, job training, or promotion of literacy, especially preventative programs that encourage self-sufficiency
- Opportunities for collaborative efforts, or that leverage matching dollars
- Services to at-risk or under-served children, families or the elderly, with emphasis on low/moderate income levels

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Grants are awarded to organizations that are recognized as exempt from federal income taxation under Section 501( c )(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and governmental units referred to in Section 170( c )(1) of the Internal Revenue Code.

The Dime Foundation focuses on the following communities when awarding grants to organizations:
Connecticut: All of New London County
Rhode Island: Hopkinton, Richmond, Westerly

While there is no limit on how often an organization may apply to the Foundation, funding will be provided to the same organization only once per year.

Post-grant reports must be on file for previously funded grants before consideration is given to new requests. Please use the post-grant report provided.

Generally, funding is not provided to fund-raising campaigns; organizations that fund other organizations or foundations; political or fraternal organizations; religious institutions; parent-run organizations (such as Parent-Teacher Organizations or Little League).

Pre-Application Information:

The foundation has three grant cycles per year.

Grant applications for 2019 are due on March 14, July 11, and October 24.
