Grants to Indiana nonprofit organizations, education institutions, and state, county, and local government agencies for programs to benefit and serve the needs of senior residents of St. Joseph County. Funding is intended to support senior housing as well as to fulfill basic needs, promote health, quality of care, community engagement, and access to community resources, especially for seniors most in need of assistance. Charities that are dedicated to meeting senior living and related needs are encouraged to apply for funding.

The purpose of this initiative is to support quality programs and services that local seniors need to remain healthy, safe, independent, and engaged. Projects will be considered that look to make a meaningful impact while promoting dignity, independence, and quality of life.

This initiative strives to make St. Joseph County a model for meeting the evolving needs of local senior citizens through collaborative efforts with other organizations committed to this common purpose.

- Aging in Place
- Home and Community-Based Services
- Professional Development, Education, and Training
- Programs/Projects Serving High Need and Vulnerable Seniors
- Quality of Care

Grants will be Judged by:
- Community Need
- Concept/Idea
- Effective Use of Resources through excellent program design, collaboration, and volunteerism
- Improved Solutions to Current & Projected Needs
- Organization’s Ability to Effectively Implement Project

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Who Can Apply:
- 501(c)(3) organizations operating in St. Joseph County.
- Nonprofit educational institutions and other public agencies (agencies of the state, county, or local government) in St. Joseph County.

Activities Generally not Funded:
- Annual Appeals or Membership Contributions
- Individuals Directly
- Special Event Underwriting

Pre-Application Information:

Application Deadlines: May 1 and November 1

Please note if the grant deadline falls on a weekend or holiday, the application is due the next business day at 9:00 a.m.

Application materials must be submitted via e-mail in word processing format (narrative or budget) or Microsoft Excel (budget).

Notification and Announcement:
The Grants Committee’s recommendations are submitted to the CF’s board of directors at the June and December board meetings. Applicants are informed immediately thereafter regarding the status of their request.
