Grants to Rhode Island nonprofit organizations for health and human services programming to improve the lives of children and adults with physical disabilities. Preference will be given to organizations serving Newport children. Special consideration is given to organizations that serve low-income individuals. Funding priorities include vocational, educational, and job training programs. Recreational programs, healthcare, and access to religious services will also be considered.

Term of Contract:

The majority of grants from the Johnston Foundation are 1 year in duration.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Proposals will be considered from eligible, tax-exempt organizations in certain 501(c)(3) subsections as defined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Preference is given to charitable organizations that serve children in Newport, Rhode Island.

Pre-Application Information:

The application deadline for the John D. & Katherine A. Johnston Foundation is July 1. Applicants will be notified of grant decisions before November 30.

Submit online applications by 11:59 PM on the day of the foundation’s deadline date. If the deadline falls on a weekend or a federally recognized holiday, applications are due on the next business day by 11:59 PM.
