Grants to New Mexico municipalities, counties, and Tribal Governments for activities that promote recycling, encourage community beautification, and help New Mexico become a litter-free state. Funding is intended for initiatives and projects to eliminate litter from New Mexico to the maximum practical extent through a state-coordinated plan of education, control, prevention, and elimination.

NMTD distributes funds throughout the state to fulfill program goals and objectives that promote citizen engagement, reduce blight, further beautification, and waste diversion efforts keeping New Mexico a clean and beautiful place to live, work and play.

Projects and initiatives that contribute to the following goals and objectives, as identified through Keep America Beautiful and the Litter Control and Beautification Act, may be eligible for funding:

  • Goal #1 - End Littering
  • Goal #2 – Reduce Waste
  • Goal #3 - Beautify Communities
  • Goal #4 – Empower Youth
  • Goal #5 – Increase Program Capacity

Pre-Application Information:

The FY22 grant application will open on Monday, March 15, 2021 at 8:00 A.M. and will close on Thursday, April 15, 2021 at 5:00 P.M.

This grant requires a 25% match.

For FY22 grant awards, Partners will be eligible to receive 50% of the total award amount following the execution of the grant agreement and submission of the Initial Disbursement Invoice. n order to receive reimbursement for the remaining 50% of the total award amount, Partners must submit the Final Reimbursement Request Packet at project end.
