Scholarships of $2,000 for USA college students who successfully assist a nonprofit organization with a crowdfunding campaign. Students will partner with a qualifying nonprofit to build a crowdfunding campaign with the goal of raising $100,000 for their nonprofit organization.

After identifying a nonprofit, students will create and manage a crowdfunding campaign on Uhelpfund.com. The nonprofit must agree to the campaign terms and provide materials for publicizing the Uhelpfund.com campaign. Necessary materials include social media networks of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, WhatsApp, etc. and email campaigns.

Scholarship funds will be awarded to students who successfully raise $100,000 through the Uhelpfund.com campaign. The scholarship will be paid directly to the student’s educational institution.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Successful students will each receive a $2,000 scholarship. Additionally, there will be intermediary incentive gifts provided by project corporate partners and a $500 bonus for the most successful project.

Please note: If a team of students works together on a successful crowdfunding campaign the $2,000 scholarship will be equally distributed among team members.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligible organizations are federal tax-exempt 501(c)3 nonprofits, as defined by the United States Internal Revenue Service Code and verified as such through the Stripe payment processor (after campaign creation).

Students must be accepted, registered, or enrolled at a qualifying college or university.

Pre-Application Information:

Three letters are required to be eligible to receive the scholarship:

1. The student must email a cover letter explaining why they personally chose the nonprofit, how the funds raised will serve the organization’s mission and the name and address of their college or university (and what Student Id # should be written on the scholarship check).

2. The student must acquire a letter of intent from the executive director of the nonprofit prior to or within 7 days (after the campaign creation is completed and submitted for approval), stating the following:

A) The named student will be raising money on behalf of the organization. The letter must state that the student will either be given access to (or work with an organization rep who has access to) existing social media accounts or permission to create new ones.

B) The organization representative has opened and connected the Stripe account to their Uhelpfund crowdfunding campaign (to receive contributions). Please note that the account must belong solely to the nonprofit and the student may not have access to the main account password. The student may be listed as a user on the Stripe account, with limited permissions.

C) The nonprofit has or will send the necessary documentation to sales+nonprofit@stripe.com from the very same email address of their Stripe account, to become a verified nonprofit and will forward the response to Uhelpfund.com to receive their verified nonprofit campaign badge on their project detail page on the website and a reduction in the Stripe processing fee from 2.9% to 2.2%.

3. To release the funds to the student's college or university in August 2017, the nonprofit will write an additional email stating that the named student is deserving of the $2,000 College Scholarship because of their consistent effort throughout the campaign to raise $100,000 for the nonprofit and/or other incentives for lesser amounts (to be announced at a later time).
