Grants to Mississippi public school districts for career preparation programs. Interested applicants must complete required registrations prior to submitting a proposal. Priority will be given to applicants from rural areas, areas with disparities or gaps in performance, and areas with high numbers of CTE participants. The purpose of this program is to support the development and implementation of Career and Technical Education career academies that incorporate components of the National Career Academy Coalition’s National Standards of Practice (NCAC NSOPs).

The overall goal of the Perkins Reserve Grant is to make grants to eligible recipients for career and technical education activities that promote the development, implementation, and adoption of programs of study or career pathways aligned with State-identified high-skill, high-wage, or in-demand occupations or industries through career academies.

Estimated Size of Grant:

This grant will be awarded in the amount of $48,000 for the project period.

Term of Contract:

A subgrant award for this RFP will be made available for the following project period: the date all parties sign the Grant Agreement through September 30, 2021, contingent upon the availability of continued funding.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligible applicants are Mississippi public school districts with CTE Programs.

Pre-Application Information:

An original copy of the sealed proposal must be received by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 20, 2021.

The deadline for submitting written questions by email is April 2, 2021, at 5:00 p.m. Copies of all questions submitted, and responses will be posted to MDE’s website http://www.mdek12.org/grants.htm under the Public Notices section/Request for Applications, Qualifications, and Proposals and will be available to the general public on April 7, 2021. No individual replies will be granted.

Tentative Timeline of Activities:
- March 19, 2021 - March 26, 2021: RFP Issued; Email and Post to MDE Website/Newspaper
- April 2, 2021: Deadline for submitting questions
- April 7, 2021: Questions will be posted to the MDE website
- April 20, 2021: Proposals due
- April 26, 2021: Evaluation of proposals
- May 13, 2021: Notification of awards

All grantees must have an active DUNS number that is unrestricted and accessible at http://www.sam.gov/. A DUNS number is a unique nine-character number used to identify your organization. After receiving a DUNS number from the Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) website, your entity must follow the Step 2 and register with SAM.gov. Any person or organization that is debarred from receiving Federal funds is not eligible to apply. Verification of the registration of the active DUNS must be submitted with the proposal (e.g., http://www.sam.gov/ correspondence indicating the status and expiration date, DUNS and Bradstreet letter, etc.) Please remember that your DUNS must be unrestricted and accessible to the public. Failure to follow both Step 1 and Step 2 to obtain and register your DUNS number will result in rejection of the proposal.
