Grants of up to $5,000 to Florida K-12 general education and agriscience teachers to integrate agricultural projects into the core curriculum. Funding is intended to teach students the importance of agriculture and to introduce students to local agricultural representatives and producers. Students must be directly involved in the project and at least one local farmer or agriculture industry representative must be involved in some way (classroom speaker, project helper, or sponsor).

Grant Requirements:

  • Agricultural concepts must be used
  • Students must be directly involved.
  • The use of Florida Agriculture in the Classroom curricula and/or materials must be demonstrated in the application and in the final report. If the use of Florida Agriculture in the Classroom materials is not included in the application, it will be disqualified.
  • At least one local farmer or agriculture industry representative must be involved in the project in some way as a classroom speaker, project helper or sponsor.
  • Teachers must get students involved in the grant project pre- and post-tests, and include the results of these tests in the final report.
  • Community involvement in the project is encouraged (this is over and above the local farmer or ag industry representative stated above), and a list of in-kind contributions from the community needs to be listed in the application. In-kind contributions need to be more than just volunteer hours.
  • A detailed budget with estimated expenses listed in a spreadsheet or table form must be included in the application.

Eligible uses of funds (This is not an all inclusive list):

  • Garden building supplies
  • Seeds
  • Plants
  • Fertilizer
  • Hoses or watering devices
  • Hydroponic systems and supplies
  • Incubators and brooder supplies

Pre-Application Information:

- All proposals must postmarked on or before October 1, 2019 or be hand delivered to the FAITC office. Email applications will not be accepted.

- Progress report due to the FAITC office: Dec. 13, 2019.
