One award of $5,000 to recognize an outstanding Oklahoma teacher from a public research university, who has demonstrated excellence in teaching. In addition to the cash award, the awardee will receive a glass sculpture designed specifically for him or her. The awardee will be recognized at the Academic Awards Banquet on May 19, 2018.

The Medal winner will receive a $5,000 cash award and a glass sculpture designed specifically for this award.

Term of Contract:

The nominee must expect to continue in an active teaching position at his or her college or university throughout the 2017-2018 school year.

Basic Criteria:

The nominee must currently be a full-time faculty member employed by a public research university in Oklahoma (as those terms are defined by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education) and must have demonstrated excellence in education. Each nominee’s performance will be evaluated in terms of his or her own particular teaching environment.

The nominee must have a teaching component in his or her current job description.

Anyone is eligible to make nominations for this award.

All nominations must be submitted online on or before Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at 5:00 PM.

Award Process:

The prospective award-winner (nominee) will initiate the process from the online portal. To begin the process, the nominee will create an account using his or her email address and a password.

The nominee will designate individuals to submit nominator statements and recommendation letters. Verification of eligibility from a supervisor will also be required. The nominee can monitor who has complied with requests to provide information and will receive a system-generated email when a third-party request has been completed.

All third parties will receive a system-generated email requesting specific information. They will click on the link provided in the email and will not be required to create an account or to log in. All requested information—nominee statements, recommendation letters, honors and awards, publications, etc.—must be input via text box.

The nominee will receive a system-generated email when a nomination has been successfully submitted.

The nominee is responsible for ensuring that all information, including that requested from third parties (e.g. letters of recommendation and verification of eligibility), is submitted via the online portal by by 5pm on Tuesday, November 28.

The honoree will be recognized at the Academic Awards Banquet on May 19, 2018.
