Grants to New Mexico independent filmmakers for financial assistance and production support to create a western film of at least five minutes in duration. The western film should highlight New Mexico's true history, be primarily set in the time period 1850-1920, and should feature horses. The NMFF can help connect the grant winner with appropriate background actors, ranches, western sets, period clothes, horses, firearms, wagons, etc. as needed.

Funding is made possible by New Mexico western fans that seek to encourage talented filmmakers to contribute to New Mexico's western film tradition.

Term of Contract:

The film must be completed by October 1, 2018.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Local independent filmmakers may apply.

Pre-Application Information:

The submission process will open on January 1, 2018 and run until February 28, 2018.

The NMFF will manage the submission process, judging and award ceremony.

The grant winner will be announced March 31, 2018.
