Grants of up to $2,000 to Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas libraries and other organizations the provide quality health information to support professional development in data science. The purpose of this award is to increase professional experience and knowledge in the field of data science at NNLM SCR network member institutions.
The mission of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NNLM) is to advance the progress of medicine and improve the public health by providing all U.S. health professionals with equal access to biomedical information and improving the public's access to information to enable them to make informed decisions about their health.
Funding will be provided to individuals interested in attending professional seminars, conferences, and other continuing education opportunities in areas of Big Data, Data Reproducibility, Data Management, Data Science, Ontologies, Metadata Standards, Natural Language Processing, Data Visualization, Data Curation and related fields.
This award is intended to cover the costs of professional development courses/conferences such as registration fees and travel expenses (airfare, hotel, per diem, etc.).

Funding opportunities are offered by the NNLM SCR to provide resources to libraries, community based organizations, public health professionals, health educators, faith-based agencies, and other information partners throughout the South Central Region of the United States. States served by the NNLM SCR include Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.
Librarians or information specialists who live within the NNLM South Central Region and are affiliated with an NNLM SCR Network member institution are eligible to apply. Network membership is free and open to institutions interested in providing health information.

Continuous reviews will take place for this award. Applications must be submitted a minimum of 6 weeks in advance of the activity date. Applications will not be accepted after March 19, 2018, 5:00 PM CST.
Funding will be cost reimbursement.
