Grants to USA, Canada, and International nonprofits to conduct research on the treatments for, and causes of a rare immunodeficiency disorder and the pulmonary complications that result from it. Funding is intended to find better treatments, therapies, and ultimately, a cure for the disease.

Number of Grants:

Two grants of up to $200,000 each, and two grants of up to $50,000 each will be awarded to qualified grantees.

Estimated Size of Grant:

For the remainder of the 2018 calendar year, the Foundation will award two grants of up to $200,000 each, and two grants of up to $50,000 each to qualified grantees.

Term of Contract:

The grants will run for two years. Payments for the second year of the grant will be contingent on agreed-upon milestones being met during the first year of research.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The research must be selected and supervised by a qualified public charity; funds will be disbursed to such institution and not to the individual researcher.

Funds may not be used entirely for salary and/or lab support.

Funds may not be used for travel expenses, or expenses incurred before the grant is received without prior written approval from the Foundation.

Pre-Application Information:

The timeline for the approval of grants is as follows:

- July-October 2018: Required documents due and all applications completed
- October-November 2018: Advisory Board application review
- December 2018: grants disbursed

The submission deadline for all grant applications is October 15, 2018. Grants will be awarded by December 17, 2018.

Applicant must include a document, if applicable, substantiating that the proposed research has a plan to obtain approval by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) or human subjects Institutional Review Board (IRB) of the grantee institution.
