Request a Grant Writer

Grants to Pennsylvania nonprofit organizations, governmental bodies, and churches for projects to improve the quality of life of residents in the Greater Johnstown region. Funding is intended to support workforce and business development, develop recreational amenities, improve transportation options, and fight blight in Cambria and Somerset counties. Projects should demonstrate broad-based collaboration.

Projects should address at least one of the following priorities:
- Mentor and invest in youth (tomorrow's workforce)
- Develop current and future leaders
- Modernize infrastructure
- Remediate blight, redevelop properties, and/or align housing stock with demand
- Leverage and conserve natural resources
- Recruit and retain businesses with family sustaining employment
- Market and promote Johnstown
- Improve government, governance, and supporting systems and processes

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applicants must have a Federal Tax ID Number and a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status or be a governmental body or church.

What will not be funded by the Community Foundation?
- Debt
- Activities that occurred prior to the beginning date of the grant
- Individuals
- Religious organizations for religious purposes
- Government entities for basic services
- Projects that discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, race, color, creed, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender expression, or any veteran status.

Community Initiatives Fund Community Development Grants Workshop
Organizations that are interested in applying for funding are encouraged, but not required, to attend a workshop to help them understand project objectives and learn more about the application process.

Applicants with a 3-to-1 match for funding sources will be prioritized. (For every $3 requested, the applicant will provide $1. This can be through matching grants, fundraisers, organization budget, or in-kind services.)
