Grants of up to $5,000 to California individual artists in eligible locations for project creation and career development. Applicants are required to attend a mandatory workshop before applying. The purpose of the funding is to keep artists in the city, attract new artists, and contribute to the city's economic and social well-being. Applicants must be registered on the West Hollywood Artist Registry and must be residents of the City of West Hollywood.

The WeHo Artist Grant aims to nurture and support the long-term development of an artist’s ideas by providing funds that increase the capacity for artists to realize work, advance the conditions of creation, and navigate the complexities of both making art and making a career.

$5,000: Maximum award possible in calendar year.

Term of Contract:

This is a one-year grant and artists who receive the grant must wait three years before they are eligible again.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Individual Artist applicants must meet the following conditions:
-Artists who were recipients of the WeHo Artist Grant within the previous 3 years are not eligible to receive this grant.
-Applicants enrolled as a student in an academic institution are not eligible to apply in that discipline of study.
-Applicants must be registered on the West Hollywood Artists Registry. The legal address of the artist must be located in West Hollywood. No exceptions. Applicants may be required to show proof of residency.
-Applicants must submit a cohesive project with a timeline and budget.

Pre-proposal Conference:

The City will conduct its Annual Grant Workshop online on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at 11:00 am (PST).

Schedule:
- Wednesday, September 16, 2020: Application deadline
- Thursday, October 8, 2020: Performing Arts and Cultural Affairs Subcommittee to review applications and make funding recommendations to the Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission
- Thursday, October 22, 2020: Arts and Cultural Affairs Commission to approve or deny funding recommendations made by the Performing Arts and Cultural Affairs
- December 2020: Subcommittee City Council to consider approval of funding recommendations
- December 2020 – January 2021: Grant recipient notifications and required orientation meeting
March 2021: Earliest award of grant funds*

**Award of funds depend on grantee’s compliance with contracting requirements. Funding can be anticipated approximately 45 days after contract is executed.
