Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $10,000 to Nevada nonprofit arts and cultural organizations in eligible locations for support in response to Coronavirus (COVID-19). Funding is intended to enable organizations to maintain their workforce and strengthen the contribution to the creative life and economy in the local community during the pandemic. The one-time grants can be used to provide salary support, fees for artists and/or contractual personnel, and facility costs, including rent and utilities. Applicants must be located in the City of Reno.

The maximum request is $10,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Eligibility:
- Have nonprofit, tax -exempt status under Section 501(c)3 of the US IRS Code
- Incorporated/physically located in the City of Reno
- Arts and cultural nonprofits with arts and/or culture in the mission statement of the organization
- Collecting or Material Organizations - These organizations provide public access to physical collections and exhibits. (i.e. Museums, Historical Societies and Zoos).
- Public Broadcasting Organizations - These organizations regularly provide significant arts and cultural programming and/or coverage of the activities of and issues facing Reno arts and cultural organizations.
- Literary Arts Organizations - These organizations provide opportunities in creative literary expression, presentation and participation.
- Performing Arts Organizations - These organizations produce and/or present live, discipline-based performance experiences.
- Visual Arts/ Film/Video/Digital Organizations - These organizations encourage the creation and/or presentation of visual art forms, support artists, visual and media arts.

Ineligible:
- Religious organizations
- Organizations whose primary mission does not focus on areas of art or culture
- For-profit organizations
- K-12 school
- Individual
- College/Community College/University
- Auxiliary support organizations (i.e. friends of xyz)
- Federal, State or City Nevada agencies, divisions or departments

Pre-Application Information:

Timeline:
- Submit the application no later than June 30, 2020 at 5:00 pm via email.
- Grant review committee meets the week of July 20 or 27, 2020 (exact date TBD).
- Reno Arts & Culture Commission review of recommendations - Monday, August 17, 2020 at 4p.m.
- City Council review of recommendations - Wednesday, August 26, 2020.
- Distribution of funds no later than September 30, 2020.
