Grant Description
Grant to a Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, DC nonprofit organization for programming to benefit local residents in eligible regions. Programs must fall into the focus areas of health and wellness, environment, education, arts and culture, and family. Eligible applicants are those located in and serving residents of the District of Columbia, Montgomery, Prince George’s, Arlington, and/or Fairfax Counties in Virginia; or the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, and Falls Church in Maryland.

Organizations apply in one of the five focus areas described below:

  • Arts & Culture: Cultural programs, participation in the arts, arts education
  • Education: Educational opportunities for children and/or adults, especially those that address lingering educational disparities affecting our community
  • Environment: Conservation and preservation of natural resources; environmental justice; parks and recreation; agricultural sustainability; environmental education and climate action.
  • Family: Strengthening and enhancing the lives of children and families, including seniors
  • Health & Wellness: Improvement of people’s mental and/or physical well-being.

Funding Priorities: Impact100 is prioritizing proposed projects that address disparities resulting from systemic racism and structural inequity. Using what is known as a racial equity lens in grant-making means acknowledging that structural and institutional bias – in institutions, places of employment, government agencies, social services, policies, and culture – continue to privilege white people and disadvantage people of color, as well as other historically marginalized groups such as LGBTQ and immigrant communities. Proposals whose solutions to unmet needs take into account their systemic roots will receive priority in the grant review process.
