Grant Description
Grants to USA organizations working to promote education and participation in the sport of lacrosse. Funding is intended to support qualifying organizations that conduct programs and projects for youth from age 6 to 19, particularly in underserved communities. Priority will be given to nonprofits, as well as to organizations that emphasize the women's game or demonstrate the ability to reach participants in underrepresented and diverse communities.

USA Lacrosse is committed to encouraging and empowering the development of lacrosse participation in underrepresented communities. The National Diversity Grant Program (NDGP) provides funding to qualified organizations that initiate or continue programs and projects that promote lacrosse participation and education.

The NDGP is intended for community organizations or sports-based youth development organizations that provide direct services for underrepresented youth in lacrosse.

Ideal NDGP applicants provide lacrosse programming in combination with one or more of the life services below:

  • Promoting leadership development and life skill programming
  • Supporting youth through education programs designed to improve health, build character, and encourage academic excellence
  • Providing direct service in quality after-school and community centers
  • Organizing tournaments, play days, clinics and/or camp opportunities for an underrepresented population
  • Supporting innovative projects for participants with disabilities or physical and/or mental limitations by improving access and opportunity
  • Supporting youth in low-income & strong financial need communities through education programs designed to improve health, build character, and encourage academic excellence

Additional Eligibility Criteria
Applicant Requirements:
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
- Applicants must be directly associated with the organization for which they are applying.

Organizational Eligibility Requirements:
- Must directly serve youth between ages 6-19 with a priority on youth ages 14 and under.
- Must be located in and serve youth within the United States.
- Must operate an organized sport, recreational activity, or fitness program.
- Must offer consistent/structured opportunity for lacrosse play to large groups of children.
- Must deliver programming through experienced and committed leadership.
- Must deliver a minimum 6-weeks of sports/physical activity programming.
- Must follow the USA Lacrosse Anti-Harassment and Discrimination Policy, and Mascot Policy.
- Must be willing and able to comply with USA Lacrosse best practices and recommendations.
- Must express organizational goals that align with the USA Lacrosse Strategic Plan.
- Must demonstrate an area of need and a plan utilize USA Lacrosse support to meet that need.

Preferences:
- Organizations emphasizing the women’s game or offering programming for both the men’s game and women's game.
- Organizations demonstrating the ability to reach participants in underrepresented and diverse communities.
- Nonprofit organizations with a 501(c)(3) designation.
- Organizations that require active USA Lacrosse membership/certification of all players and coaches.

USA Lacrosse grants are offered in two rounds, Fall and Spring.
