6 Grants to Provide Your Local Library With Funding

Using GrantWatch, you can also find a list of foundations that have given donations or grants to support literacy and library programs in the past.

Libraries are an invaluable resource to any local community. Not only do libraries serve as a hub of knowledge, but they can also be a safe haven for people looking to gain connections to services and help. Libraries give adults and children access to thousands of books at their fingertips. This helps them grow their skills and learn more about the world around them. For many low-income individuals and families, libraries are the only contact some people have at all with the Internet or other resources. These institutions are truly one of the only places that are free to everyone and allow everyone an equal playing field to find opportunities.

“Libraries store the energy that fuels the imagination. They open up windows to the world and inspire us to explore and achieve, and contribute to improving our quality of life.”

Sidney Sheldon, American Writer & Producer

Keeping the Doors Always Open

For all these reasons above and more, it is crucial that libraries are able to continue their work. To do this, libraries need a constant source of funding. Most libraries get their funding from city and county taxes, as well as state taxes and special revenues. However, sometimes this funding is not enough to cover programming and other costs. This is why many libraries also apply for government or foundation grants.

To recognize the amazing contributions that libraries are making to our communities, GrantWath is sharing six grants currently available for libraries. These are just some of the wonderful grants out there.

“I have found the most valuable thing in my wallet is my library card.”
