Serving the Senior Community Strengthens the Entire Community

The senior community is often referred to as a ‘force to be reckoned with’. Not only does this community make up a large part of society, but it is also a valuable part of society. Seniors have a vast knowledge of the world around them and bring with them years of experience and guidance to share. People aged 65 and older represented 16% of the population of the U.S. in the year 2019. However, that percentage is expected to grow to 21.6% of the population by 2040. According to research, it is likely that the 85 and older population in America will more than double from 6.6 million in 2019 to 14.4 million by the year 2040. We, as a society, need to better understand how we can help the senior community gain the tools it needs to thrive so that it can in turn help strengthen the entire community.

There are many programs and agencies that exist to provide activities and programs for seniors. However, these programs need funding to stay afloat. Grants can be a great way to get this additional funding. GrantWatch has an entire grant category specifically for aging and seniors.
