Grant Description
Grants of up to $10,000 to Michigan nonprofit organizations in eligible regions to promote economic empowerment and racial equity. Applicants must attend a virtual information session and complete required registrations prior to applying. Projects may take place throughout Ypsilanti and Ypsilanti Township (48197 and 48198 zip codes).

Ypsilanti Area Community Fund (YACF) is seeking opportunities to invest funds in community-based projects that specifically support racial equity programs related to economic empowerment including efforts related to systemic transformation, and revitalization. 

Priority will be given to applications with the following focuses. Funding examples, but not limited to, are listed below each focus.

  • Community Public Health:
    • Mental health supportive programming
    • Violence prevention support
    • Providing health and wellness opportunities for families
  • Youth Educational Support:
    • Mentoring Programs/Leadership Development
  • Community Support
    • Homelessness prevention
    • Programming to support those experiencing unemployment 


Additional Eligibility Criteria
501(c)(3) nonprofits providing services in Washtenaw County, Michigan are eligible to apply for grants from the AAACF.

Pre-Proposal Conference
Community Grantmaking and YACF Info Sessions:

All applicants are required to attend one of three Information Sessions. Organizations that submit an application without having attended an Information Session will not be eligible to receive funding. All information sessions will be done remotely via Zoom or MS Teams.

- Tuesday, May 23rd 1:00 PM-2:00 PM
- Friday, June 9th 10:30 AM-11:30 AM
- Thursday, June 22nd 3:00 PM-4:00 PM

Registration for each session will close at 9 AM the day prior to the meeting. Once registration is closed, a reminder and the login information will be emailed to all the individuals who are registered.

Applications are due Friday, June 30th 2023 by 5:00PM EST.

If needed, register for the NonProfit Portal at x to receive access to the grant application.

All organizations must submit a request for credentials by Friday, June 30th, 2023.

One application per organization.
