Grant Description
Grants to North Carolina nonprofit organizations for community projects in the areas of arts and human services. Funding is intended for innovative program development and execution, improving procedures, equipment purchasing, technology, and capital improvements that enhance communities.

The process and requirements are the same for both the arts and human services grant funds.

  • The Arts Fund
  • Through the Joy W. Pope Memorial Grant in the Arts, the Foundation hopes to support innovative ideas and highlight the valuable contributions arts make to communities.
  • Human Services Fund
  • Through the Joy W. Pope Memorial Grant in Human Services, the Foundation hopes to support innovative ideas and highlight the creative projects that are making communities stronger, better places to live, work, and play.

Your proposed project could be an entirely new creation, something that changes how things are done (ex: improving processes, procedures, equipment, facilities, etc.); an endeavor that expands your scope of work (ex: reaching new populations). Regardless of your proposed project, the result should be a quantifiable gain for the organization and the people it serves.

Eligible projects include capital improvements (new or existing), program development and execution, equipment, and technology. This list is not exhaustive, and the Foundation will consider other grant purposes.

  • Others (see text field entitled "Additional Eligibility Criteria" for clarification)

Additional Eligibility Criteria
The Joy W. Pope Memorial Grant Program is an annual competitive grant opportunity for organizations in the arts and human services.

All recipients must be fully compliant with nonprofit IRS rules and regulations.

Proposed projects should not be endowment, debt relief, or crisis funding requests.

Proposed projects should not entirely consist of general operating support.

The grants are not intended for medical research.
