Grant Description
Awards of $1,000 to Northwest Territories individuals or groups of volunteers to recognize community-building efforts. Awards are intended to recognize volunteers and groups who have worked to improve the quality of life in local communities. Awards are available in the following categories; Youth (under 25), Individual (25-54), Elder (55+), and Group.

Judging Criteria:

The evaluation guideline includes, but is not limited to:

  • The duration of the volunteerism; the number of years, months, and approximate number of volunteer hours the nominee committed to the activity;
  • The type of involvement the nominee has had in their community or organization, and what type of volunteering they performed¬†
  • The level of impact the nominee has had on their community or organization through their volunteer efforts¬†

Additional Eligibility Criteria
Anybody can nominate an individual or a group whose voluntary work strengthens and enriches northern life.

Only Northwest Territories residents are eligible for an award.

Pre-Application Information
Nominations for the 2023 NWT Outstanding Volunteer Awards are due December 15, 2023.

The nomination form can be emailed, mailed, or faxed back to your MACA Regional office or to the Sport, Recreation, and Youth Division office in Yellowknife.

Estimated Size of Grant
Territorial recipients receive $1,000 to give to a volunteer organization of their choice as well as an award recognizing them for their efforts in building communities through volunteering.
