Grants to Hawaii nonprofit organizations for programs and capital projects that promote Chinese culture and the preservation of Chinese history in the State. First priority will be given to projects taking place in Kona. Secondary priority will be given to projects on the Island of Hawaii, and third priority will be given to projects throughout the remainder of the State.
The purpose of the Gee Hing Chinese Company Charitable Trust is for the perpetual care, promotion, enhancement and preservation of the Tong Wo Tong Chinese Cemetery historical site located in Keauhou, Hawaii and for the promotion of Chinese culture and preservation of the history of Chinese in North and South Kona, Hawaii.
The trustees’ general policy is to consider one request each year from qualified organizations in the State of Hawaii with programs and projects that promote Chinese culture and preservation of the history of Chinese in the State of Hawaii with a primary emphasis in North and South Kona, a secondary emphasis on the island of Hawaii and third throughout the remainder of the State.
Support is for programs/projects that promote Chinese culture and the preservation of Chinese history.
Funding for General Capital grants are provided for small capital projects or equipment primarily for organizations that promote Chinese culture and the preservation of Chinese history.
General Capital grantsare provided for the purchase of equipment, and renovations of buildings. The Trust does not provide grants for the purchase of real estate; nor does it provide grants for deficit funding or for endowments.

The Trust does not provide multiple-year funding.
Applications for grants must be qualified tax-exempt 501 (c)(3) charitable organizations in the State of Hawaii.
The Trust does not make grants directly to individuals, to endowments, for reserve purposes, or deficit financing.
For General Capital Grants, the Trust prefers to be one of several contributors, expecting the organization to acquire needed funds from several sources to assure the project is completed at a specific time and/or in a timely manner.
Proposals must be postmarked or delivered by September 30.
Notification of the Trustees’ final decisions will be made approximately 60 days after deadline.
