Grants to Hawaii nonprofit organizations for programs and projects that promote Chinese culture and the preservation of Chinese history in the State. Primary priority for funding is intended for projects, programs, events, or initiatives taking place in Kona. Secondary priority for funding is for proposals taking place on the Island of Hawaii, and third priority for funding is for proposals taking place throughout the remainder of the State.

Funding will be provided for Program grants and for Capital requests, as outlined below:

- Program Grants are restricted to programs and projects that promote Chinese culture and the preservation of Chinese history.

- Capital Grants are restricted to small capital projects or equipment purchases that promote Chinese culture and the preservation of Chinese history. General Capital requests are for capital projects or equipment having a total cost under $20,000. General Capital grants are provided for the purchase of equipment, and renovations of buildings. The Trust does not provide grants for the purchase of real estate; nor does it provide grants for deficit funding or for endowments. Generally, the Trust prefers to be one of several contributors, expecting the organization to acquire needed funds from several sources to assure the project is completed at a specific time and/or in a timely manner.

Fields of interest may include arts and culture, education, health, and community.

General Capital requests are for capital projects or equipment having a total cost under $20,000.

The Trust does not provide multiple-year funding.

Applications for grants must be qualified tax-exempt 501 (c)(3) charitable organizations in the State of Hawaii.

The Trust does not make grants directly to individuals, to endowments, for reserve purposes, or deficit financing.

Applications must be postmarked or delivered by September 30.

Recipient organizations must submit a progress/interim report before an additional funding request will be considered. A Final Report must be submitted no later than 14 months after the date of the award. The Trust does not accept proposals from organizations with overdue reports.
