Grants to Washington law enforcement agencies to purchase equipment that helps improve traffic safety in school zones. Funding is intended to ensure the safety of children as they travel to and from school. Eligible equipment includes radars, speed feedback signs, LIDARs, heavy weather gear for motorcycle enforcement, and other equipment that is used to enforce school zone speed limits and keep kids safe on their way to school.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Each NOI is worth $25 towards the purchase of equipment.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Law enforcement agencies writing school zone tickets under RCW 46.61.440 are eligible for grants for police equipment used to enforce school zone traffic laws.

Not approved for funding: Motor vehicles (cars), motorcycles, cargo trailers, SECTOR equipment, maintenance expenses, and additional warranties.

Deadlines: Grants for 2020-2021 will open on August 1, 2020 and will close on April 30, 2021.
