Grants to USA nonprofits in multiple states for programs that will enhance the quality of life for eligible communities. New applicants must submit an LOI by November 15, 2016. Funding will be awarded to programs in the areas of education, human services, and healthcare and medical research.

Program Areas:

1) Human Services Initiatives

The McGowan Fund supports projects that strive to prevent or end homelessness and move people toward self-sufficiency by addressing needs in stabilized housing, food security, job training or education toward a living wage, and mental health services.

2) Initiatives in Education

The McGowan Fund strives to improve academic achievement, high school graduation rates, and college success. This work encompasses early childhood education; out-of-school academic support; charter, faith-based, and alternative schools; and teacher and leadership training and development programs for private and faith-based schools.

3) Healthcare and Medical Research Initiatives

The McGowan Fund believes in the power of prevention and behavioral health/lifestyle management to prevent and reverse cardiac disease. They also support access to healthcare for those who otherwise cannot obtain medical care.

In Colorado, the Fund supports only programs that advance low-income single-parent families toward economic security, independence, and overall well-being. They place emphasis on providing the single parent pathways to employment through education, training, and services with demonstrated success in job placement and retention.
