Grants to USA, Canada, and International individual athletes with disabilities for costs related to participating in athletic and recreational activities. Funding may be requested to purchase equipment, attend competitions, or to cover costs associated with coaching and training. Grants are awarded based on the greatest financial need.

CAF is offering THREE grant categories this year. Applicants may only choose one category to apply for. More details for each category are below.

  • Sport Expense Grant (NEW!): CAF combined two of our historical grant options (Coaching/Training Expenses & Travel/Competition Expenses) to create a new grant category with more flexibility. This grant option provides recipients with monetary funds to be used for sport-related expenses, including any or all of the following:
    • Coaching/Training expenses
    • Travel/Competition expenses
    • Minor/small equipment purchases
  • Equipment Grant: CAF partners with several equipment distributors who offer our grant program generous discounts on some of the top equipment on the market. You can view the list of our offered equipment for 2021 application. You will select your desired equipment from a drop-down menu in the application. If your desired equipment is not offered on our list, you’ll select Other/Equipment not listed and follow the instructions to request funding towards your desired equipment.
  • Athletic Prosthetics Grant: You may request lower limb running prostheses offered by the Foundation's global prosthetics partner, Össur. Applicants must fill out an application and then work with their prosthetist to fill out a recommendation form.

International applicants living outside the United States or Canada are only eligible for the following:

  • Sport Expense Grant
  • Funding Towards Equipment Grant
