Grants typically of up to $5,000 to Washington nonprofit emergency medical service providers in eligible areas to purchase emergency care equipment. Preference is given to equipment used in the education and training of paramedics and firefighters. Eligible applicants must provide services for a community in King County or a neighboring county.

Estimated Size of Grant:

Equipment grant awards generally range between $250 - $5,000. Grant requests in excess of $20,000 will not be considered.

Term of Contract:

No agency will receive funding for two consecutive years.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

An agency must be a primary nonprofit provider of emergency medical services for a community located in King County, WA or a neighboring county. It is anticipated that such agencies will usually be local fire departments, but may be community hospitals or other local institutions, which operate as nonprofit public agencies. All applicant agencies must be public entities or private nonprofit corporations recognized by the State of Washington.

- The Foundation will not consider requests for vehicles, gurneys, glidescopes, clothing or wearable safety items, replacement equipment, video laryngoscopes, mechanical CPR devices, single-use disposable items, or operational expenses.
- Requests for funding AED’s will only be considered from agencies with operating budgets of $50,000 or less.
- Grant requests in excess of $20,000 will not be considered.

Pre-Application Information:

Application Deadline: Extended to April 30, 2021

Funding is on a matching basis. The Foundation may contribute up to 75% of the cost of the requested equipment. The applicant agency must demonstrate the financial capability and commitment to fund the balance of the request.

Requests for equipment costing $1,000 or more must include two vendor bids verifying the cost.
