Grants of up to $5,000 to Wisconsin nonprofit organizations in eligible locations for operational support of activities that enhance the quality of life and provide for the needs of local community residents. Funding is intended to alleviate challenges faced by working families that arise from the area's unique seasonal economy. Applicants must serve the residents of Door County.

Through the application for a Sustainability Grant, a nonprofit organization might receive assistance from the Arts Fund, the Children & Youth Fund, the Education Fund, the Green Fund, the Health & Human Needs Fund, and/or the Historic Preservation Fund. There no longer are separate applications for each of these Discretionary Funds as there were in the past.

While it is not required of any applicant, those that demonstrate any of the following will receive special consideration during the evaluation process:

  • Collaborative - brings different organizations together to accomplish a common goal
  • Innovative - offers a new or unique approach to addressing an issue
  • Sustainable - demonstrates an ability to continue beyond the duration of any grant awarded
  • Inclusive - considers the community’s diversity by engaging diverse peoples
  • Environmentally Conscious - incorporated practices that are environmentally friendly
  • County Issue - addresses an issue that is widely recognized throughout the entire County as a priority.
