Grants to Texas households in eligible locations for rent support during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) health crisis. Funding is intended to assist income-eligible individuals and families who have been negatively impacted by the pandemic and are struggling to make rent payments. The rent assistance provided must bring the recipient's rental account current. Eligible applicants reside in the City of Killeen.
The goal of the program is to help residents stay housed during the pandemic and help them recover economically from the impact of the pandemic. TERAP/TEDP can also provide rental assistance for tenants who have been sued for eviction (i.e. forcible detainer action filed against them), providing the landlord and tenant an alternative to eviction.
GrantWatch ID#: 197100
The program can pay up to six (6) months of an eligible household’s rent, including rental arrears, with at least one (1) month covering future rent (the current month is not considered as future rent). Eligible late fees are also an option provided the late fees are included in the lease document and cannot be greater than allowed under Texas Property Code § 92.019.
