I Just Saw a Grant for A Pickup Truck

I just saw a grant for $2000 to nonprofit organizations in the USA that use and depend on pickup trucks. Eligible applicants are volunteers and employees of charities that use Ford, Chevy or Dodge pick-ups during their normal operations. Can you believe it? $2000 to nonprofit organizations in the USA! I grew up in Detroit and have motor oil flowing through my veins, and I just love a good car story. I recently read an article about a traveling salesman in Oregon who purchased a 1979 Saab 900 in Acacia Green Metallic. According to the article, this funky looking Green Swede has, in the last 4 decades, driven nearly two round trips to the moon by one driver who made sales calls all around the Pacific Northwest; that’s 890,000 miles.
Sweden used to manufacture two distinct cars by two distinct corporations, the Volvo and the Saab. The Swedish drivers and their families would choose either the Saab or the Volvo and were devoted customers in this friendly, nationalistic feud. Prior to Asian and European imports, Americans also became devoted to either Ford, Chevy or Dodge. So, if you drive one of these three USA pick-ups and qualify, please apply for the grant.
Which model vehicle has driven the most miles? This quirky Swedish Saab import has nothing on our Detroit made pickup trucks. A man named Frank who delivered steak and seafood to Chicago from Wisconsin every day bought a 1991 Chevy pick-up with 41,000 miles and by 2008 he passed a million miles. In Florida, Phil drove his 2006 Ford pick-up 200,000 miles a year and hit 1.2 million miles in 5 years.
There is a million-mile club for drivers who have driven 1 million miles and even a club for 2 million milers. However, the Guinness World Record was set in 2014 by Irv Gordon of Long Island, NY. He drove his Volvo P1800 3.04 million miles. So, the other Swedish car company, Volvo is the go-to car for those who want to drive a million miles.
